EPS Goes Green

Written on the 27th August, 2015

As UK Contact Point,  Jon Jordan has worked with a large number of project partners on sustainable transport and renewable energy projects.  These have included the E-Mobility project which looked at electric vehicles and the HyTrEc project which  developed hydrogen transport in the North Sea.  Since leaving the Contact Point role, Jon has worked with Aberdeen City Council and other partners on a project application for a HyTrEc2 project which builds on the original HyTrEc project and  develops further hydrogen transport in the North Sea Region.

In view of this work, Jon thought it was time that European Policy Solutions went green and we have now purchased a Plug-in Golf GTE hybrid from Specialist Cars Dunfermline who have been very professional and helpful.  The attached picture shows Pat and me at the Garage with salesperson Jordan Lanni.  We are pleased that we were the first to buy a Golf GTE from Specialist Cars in Dunfermline and hope that it will be followed by many more sales of the GTE.

Jon said “the Golf GTE is ideal for working and living in a rural area where a pure electric vehicle would be impracticable due to the short range leading to range anxiety. This allows us to do short journeys on electric charge only and to combine the petrol and electric engines on longer journeys, allowing the use of the electric engine in urban areas where air pollution is a problem.  The fuel consumption is much better in the GTE compared to our old car which admittedly was eight years old! There are savings on Vehicle Excise Duty and  some local authorities offer free charging  and parking”

The car is a delight to drive and we will keep you informed as to performance and fuel consumption.
